Monolithic (band)

Monolithic is a synthpop band on the A Different Drum label. Although Monolithic is categorized in the synthpop genre, the infusion of many other subgenres of electronic music make Monolithic's music distinctive in the synthpop scene. Genres such as breakbeat, trance, ebm, techno, industrial, and downtempo can be found in the music of Monolithic. The music of Monolithic can be described as "intense", "meaningful", "emotional", and "powerful". Midihead is the sole mastermind behind the band, and can be found in the credits of music for remixes, TV, and motion picture trailers.
In January 2006, Midihead announced that he was canceling his then-upcoming Monolithic album ''Evil Behind Smiling Eyes'' to focus on other projects. The limited pre-release collection of MP3-format tracks remains available on the official site.
==MIDIhead==
Michael (MIDIhead) Babbitt, the sole member of electronic music group Monolithic, started his music career at the age of 14. It all began when he went to a Battle of the DJ's with a box of cassette tapes in hand. While he bombed terribly at his first performance, coming in last place, he learned from the experience and won the heart of the contest's promoter. This lead him to fall under the tutelage of experienced DJ's who helped him learn the craft. Michael continued to perfect his skills until by the age of eighteen he helped a friend start a nightclub called The Ivy Tower which was housed in a Gothic-looking, former church. In 2000, Michael released his first solo album under the moniker of Monolithic. This album won Best Album of 2001 at the American Synthpop awards in Hollywood.〔http://www.lexiconmagazine.com/awards.html〕 His musical work has appeared in: Access Hollywood, MTV, The Matrix Reloaded, Dark Angel, America's Next Top Model, Prison Break, Dexter as well as the popular Dance, Dance, Revolution video games. His latest release, called 'Evil Behind Smiling Eyes' is exclusively available for download in both MP3 and FLAC forms from his (personal website ). Michael writes and produces his own music as well as provides lead and backup vocals.
In addition to writing and producing music, Michael has also dabbled in sound design and created 5 patch libraries for (Spectrasonics Omnisphere™ ), distributed exclusively by (ILIO ).
